I’ve been itching to write a blog post lately but the truth is, I have nothing to write about.
I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had the opportunity for perspective because of the three kidnapped boys in Israel. Meaning, yeah my son is gay. But I also know exactly where he is right now and it is hard to think about anything related to his situation as noteworthy when there are three mothers who aren’t so different from me who may never see their teenage sons again (hoping differently of course).
Or maybe because things are just at a standstill. From what I hear, it’s a pretty common knowledge secret that our son came out. I’ve had a small handful of people tell me they know that other people found out about him but there’s no widespread talk. Or if there is, people are really good at making sure it doesn’t get back to us. I don’t know. Either way, I’m not complaining.
In funny news, we had some out of town company for shabbat this past week. The little six year old daughter developed a pretty strong crush on my son. She informed him that on his wedding day she plans on coming and murdering the bride (assuming it isn’t her). Disturbing nature of the story aside, we all got a good laugh about that. And were thankful that no brides will be murdered.
